Kati Moug receives 2021 Generation Google Scholarship
U-M IOE PhD student, Kati Moug, has received a 2021 Generation Google Scholarship in recognition of academic performance, leadership, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Kati Moug, U-M Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) PhD Student, has been named as a recipient of a 2021 Generation Google Scholarship.
The Google-sponsored scholarship offers recipients $10,000 to subsidize their tuition spending for the academic year. Google was co-founded by U-M computer science alumni Larry Page, and has for many years been dedicated to improving education in STEM-related fields.
“I am honored to receive a Generation Google Scholarship to support my studies in computational operations research,” said Moug. “I look forward to continuing to develop as a researcher with the help of this award.”

The Generation Google Scholarship is awarded annually to full-time college students of any level who are studying computer science or engineering or a similar field. The scholarship aims to recognize students who have demonstrated high levels of academic performance, leadership, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Kati Moug is a U-M IOE PhD student under the advisement of Siqian Shen. Moug’s primary research interest is finding ways to apply optimization methods and data analytics to systems engineering problems in order to create social impact. Her current research focuses on stochastic optimization and ensuring reliable and resilient solutions under conditions of uncertainty, especially in the fields of transportation, health care, and criminal justice.
