This award recognizes organizations or individuals that, through innovative means, have developed programs or projects directed to the advancement of women, minorities or individuals with disabilities in the field of industrial engineering.
Joi Mondisa, University of Michigan Industrial and Operations (U-M IOE) assistant professor, has received the Institute for Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) UPS Minority Advancement Award.
According to the IISE website, this award recognizes organizations or individuals that, through innovative means, have developed programs or projects directed to the advancement of women, minorities or individuals with disabilities in the field of industrial engineering.
“I am extremely honored to receive this award in recognition of my work in helping to build stronger relationships between students, faculty and staff,” Mondisa said.
Mondisa is the faculty mentor for BIndx, a group composed of U-M College of Engineering students, faculty and staff who come together informally for meaningful conversations and fellowship to promote learning, mentoring and networking.
Additionally, her teaching and research interests focus on engineering management and operations, engineering education and mentoring research. She examines mentoring approaches, experiences and intervention programs that broaden participation in higher education.
