U-M IOE Ph.D. student Rohan Ghuge wins the Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement
This award is presented to an outstanding graduate student in each of the U-M College of Engineering degree programs.
Rohan Ghuge, University of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) Ph.D. student has received the Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement.
“I feel honored to have received this award, and am deeply grateful to the U-M IOE department for the opportunities that I have received during my time as a Ph.D. student,” said Ghuge.
Rohan’s U-M IOE faculty advisor is Associate Professor Viswanath Nagarajan. Rohan’s research focus is on optimization under uncertainty. His current research explores the role of adaptivity in stochastic combinatorial optimization and learning with noisy pairwise comparisons. He is also interested in designing approximation algorithms for combinatorial problems arising in areas such as assortment optimization and network design.
This award, accompanied by a $1,000 stipend, is presented to an outstanding graduate student in each of the U-M College of Engineering degree programs. Criteria considered by the department awards committee includes the student’s active participation in research, leadership and academic performance (GPA).
