Undergraduate Student Organizations

Alpha Pi Mu (APM)

APM is the only nationally recognized Industrial & Operations Engineering Honor Society. The Georgia Tech engineers who led the initial developmental work of Alpha Pi Mu wanted an organization to provide an inspiration for young students, to provide a common ground on which their outstanding young engineers could exchange ideas, and to provide experiences which could help their future professional development.

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES)

The mission of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society is to “promote the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds.”

Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS)

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) serves the scientific and professional needs of OR/MS students, educators, investigators, scientists, and practitioners. INFORMS serves as a focal point for OR/MS professionals, helping us to communicate with each other.

Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE)

IISE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. IISE on campus strives to provide an awareness of the Industrial and Operations Department and its resources. IISE works to develop interdepartmental relationships as well as present insight into career opportunities.

The MECC Consulting Group

The MECC Consulting Group provides highly analytical, data driven, and business‐minded students the opportunity to engage in hands on projects and ultimately learn whether or not a career in consulting is right for them. With over 50 members in diverse engineering fields, MECC is dedicated to adding impact at local clients through pro‐bono projects, exposing members to prospective employers through networking events, and developing our members through student body meetings.

Student Leadership Board in IOE

The SLB exists to support and encourage the academic, social, and professional pursuits of students in IOE. This is done in several ways: 1) facilitating communication between IOE student organizations; 2) providing resources for students and organizations; and 3) acting as a liaison between the general student body of IOE and the department administration. The Board is comprised of representatives from each student organization and each class, graduate student coordinators, and GSAC members. Every IOE student is welcome to be an active member.
