Raed Al Kontar receives the National Science Foundation Career Award
This award is given by the National Science Foundation through their Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program. As one of the most prestigious awards, it supports early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to advance the mission of their department.
Raed Al Kontar, University of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) assistant professor, has received the National Science Foundation Career Award.
This award is given by the National Science Foundation through their Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program. As one of the most prestigious awards, it supports early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to advance the mission of their department.
“This award motivates me to resume my research focus on distributed and federated data analytics, specifically within the Internet of Federated Things,” said Al Kontar. “As the computational power of edge devices continues to increase fast, federated data analytics will allow us to process more of our data where it is created to reduce computation, latency, and cost of model learning and improve privacy, diversity, and fairness.”
Al Kontar’s CAREER proposal describes the future of today’s Internet of Things, as the Internet of Federated Things (IoFT), and provides federated data analytics solutions to bring its promise of it into reality.
